Hi everybody,

I have this problem:

50 DC W2K3 SP2 connected over WAN links.
SCOM2007

Active Directory Management Pack (SCOM2007)
AD Run As Profile well configured and permissions on Mom Latency Connectors
are ok.

I have overrided AD Replication Monitoring/Intersite Expected Max latency
from default 15m to 180m on Active Directory Domain Controller Server
Computer Role and Active Directory DC and Global Catalog Server Role
(Windows 2003 Server).

I receive this error from each DC:
AD Replication is occuring slowly

AD Replication Monitoring: The following DCs took more than three times the
expected replication time to replicate. Format : DC, Naming Context,
Calculated Replication Time (in minutes) Site name:BEL-GEN (Intersite,
expected replication time is 15 minutes) SDCEUGEN01,
Domain:SDCEUHUI01.eu.oups.com, 110 SDCEUGEN01,
NDNC:DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=eu,DC=oups,DC=com, 115 SDCEUGEN01,
NDNC:DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=oups,DC=com, 110

All replication alerts are concerning DNS-integrated zones (Forest and DNS)

I tried to :
stop mom service
purge E:\System Center Operations Manager 2007\Health Service State\Health
Service Store
restart mom service

uninstall/reinstall mom agent

Any idea ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Antoine, welcome to the wonderful world of AD replication :)

If you're not interested in monitoring the replication of your forest and
DNS zones, these can be disabled in the overrides of the AD Replication
Monitor. The parameter you're after is Monitor Application Partitions..

However, if you are interested in monitoring their replication, then take a
ticket..we're all still trying to get it working!

I have a ticket open with PSS for some three weeks now! As you noted, even
though you implemented the override, the alert still indicates the expected
latency of '15' minutes and does not show your override. I will post as soon
as I get an update, but PSS has nothing yet. Is this an official bug by any
chance?

I doubt you'd get them to say it is ;)

Having done some digging, i do think this is a bug. When the AD
Replication monitoring runs, it runs a piece of vbs, if you create an
override, it creates ANOTHER vb script with the override threshold in
it, but the original script still runs..there must be a trigger which
ignores the default if there is an override, but in some cases this
doesn't occur.
Essentially this is making ad replication monitoring worthless, as
it's constantly alerting on incorrect information. Currently i'm
disabling it at client sites, as it's unpredictable..

I'd like to hear from the AD MP team, as to when a new release is due,
so they can correct the issues, and the spelling mistakes.. ;)

I discovered something on this today.

Look into your console and determine if there are any domain controllers in
your environment that you do not have and agent installed on. If you followed
the management pack guide you would have turned proxying for all your domain
controllers. This will discover all the other domain controllers in the
environment and it will then report on them (for replication) regardless if
there is an agent installed on the server or not.

I would classify this as a bug, but agent proxying seems to cause alot of
issues at the moment.

Hi there,

I used your override method however it's still alerting against the
ForestDNSzone on DCs which are listed as not monitored (i didn't set
proxying, but i assume someone else here did, as it's unticked at the
moment).
Is there any way to remove these unmonitored computers, so i can make
these annoying alerts go away?!
